For unknown reasons, former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler has pulled out of an MMA fight at UFC 205. Even Cerrone himself was excited about his bout with Lawler, knowing full well that both of them are fan favorites and always brings exciting fights and finishes in the octagon. If that’s the case, it is crushing news for his comeback tour after losing his 170-pound title to Tyron Woodley via first-round knockout back at UFC 201 this past July.

It is well known that Lawler’s fight with Cerrone is one of the most anticipated and with most clamor by fans. According to the report, Cerrone will remain on the card against a new opponent.

Cerrone, who made his name in the UFC as a lightweight, moved up to the welterweight division after suffering a loss to former lightweight champion, Rafael Dos Anjos. Prior to that he had reeled off two consecutive title defenses over Carlos Condit at UFC 195 and Rory MacDonald at UFC 189.
