Prince George’s younger sister, 11-month-old Princess Charlotte, did not take part in the meet-and-greet. The Queen, whose 90th birthday was celebrated recently, said there was no chance Obama’s extensive security backup would be accompanying him to Windsor Castle.

One royal source told the Daily Star Sunday: “It was a write-off and the Queen was not amused”.

The Obamas swung by Kensington Palace, where they met the tiny future heir to the throne, for Friday dinner during their three-day stay in London. The image features four generations of the Royal family, from left, Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince George and Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge. George’s name is embroidered on the robe, and he completed the look with a pair of slippers. “Each time, the president has come away with an even deeper personal affection for her”, said Obama spokesman Josh Earnest.

Speaking about the queen, whose 90 birthday was on April 21, the president said, “She is truly one of my favorite people, and should we be fortunate enough to reach 90 may we be as vibrant as she is”.

The Prince was allowed to stay up late on Friday evening as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hosted the US President and First Lady. George was also seen during his brief visit with the Obamas on his rocking horse at the palace, which was gifted to him by the Obamas after his birth. The Obamas brought as a gift a po diary of the queen’s many visits with US presidents and first ladies.Obama’s agenda before he leaves for Germany on Sunday includes talks with Cameron on the global economy, on countering an increasingly assertive Russian Federation and on the fight against the Islamic State group.
