Robert De Niro compares Trump with “Taxi Driver” character

The festival, founded as an act of defiance towards the end of the 1992-95 siege during the Bosnian war, will this year show 222 films from 61 countries to an audience of about 100,000.

In fact, things have got so bad that Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign has nearly been as unforgivable as some of Robert De Niro’s recent film choices.

In Taxi Driver, De Niro – a long-time Democrat supporter – played Travis Bickle, a Vietnam war veteran who drives a cab at night in NY, but descends into paranoia and vigilante anger at perceived sleaze.

During a question-and answer session Saturday at the Sarajevo Film Festival, De Niro said, like Bickle, the U.S. Republican presidential candidate is where he shouldn’t be.

So when Robert De Niro calls Donald Trump “totally nuts” everyone should listen.

“God help us”, he added.

“But I think now they are really starting to push back, the media … finally they are starting to say, ‘Come on Donald, this is ridiculous, this nuts, this is insane”, De Niro continued.
