Some 300 taxi drivers have put up De Niro posters, most depicting him with his hair shaved into a mohawk, onto their windscreens and more will follow the suit during the nine-day Sarajevo Film Festival.
Robert De Niro compared Donald Trump to one of cinema’s greatest deranged characters – Taxi Driver’s Travis Bickle – during a Friday night screening of that 1976 classic at the Sarajevo Film Festival.
“I don’t know, it’s insane that people that Donald Trump …, he shouldn’t even be where he is, so God help us”, De Niro declared, via Reuters.
So when Robert De Niro calls Donald Trump “totally nuts” everyone should listen.
Over 200 films will be screened in the 22nd year of the festival, which runs until August 20 in the Bosnian capital.
In Taxi Driver, De Niro – a long-time Democrat supporter – played Travis Bickle, a Vietnam war veteran who drives a cab at night in NY, but descends into paranoia and vigilante anger at perceived sleaze.
U.S. actor Robert De Niro delivers a speech after receiving an award, at the Sarajevo Film Festival in Sarajevo, Bosnia, Friday, Aug. 12, 2016.
His comments were met with applause from a presumably liberal audience at the Sarajevo National Theater.
De Niro continued on the matter in saying that the media were giving Trump too much attention, yet they are now starting to really question some of the more controversial comments things that the candidate has said.
