Robert De Niro thinks Donald Trump is nuts, like his Taxi Driver character Travis Bickle.
De Niro was at the film festival to mark the 40th anniversary of Taxi Driver’s cinematic release.
According to De Niro, the Sarajevo festival “was born during a dark and unsafe time to counter the butchering of war with a celebration of art and humanity”.
Vaxxed was made by Andrew Wakefield, the guy behind the thoroughly discredited, entirely inaccurate, and wildly unsafe study supposedly linking vaccinations to autism, and De Niro-who has a child with autism-thought including the film in the festival would be a good way to inspire discussion. Later, asked by film buffs about Bickle’s mental illness, De Niro found a parallel in Trump. “There are going to be no surprises, and she has earned the right to be president and the head of the country at this point”, De Niro told the Daily Beast. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
De Niro continued on the matter in saying that the media were giving Trump too much attention, yet they are now starting to really question some of the more controversial comments things that the candidate has said.
