Robert Lewis Dear Targeted Planned Parenthood Long Before Colorado Springs
Authorities beefed up security in the wake of the recent shooting at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs, though no threats have been made against the West Hollywood clinic.

The alleged gunman’s murderous rampage at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic wasn’t the first time he targeted the organization, his ex-wife said.
Dear faces a minimum sentence of life in prison to a maximum sentence of death. After the attack on the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood, Dear used the phrase “no more baby parts” when explaining to investigators why he’d committed the egregious act.
Senior officials in the Justice Department have said they are considering whether to bring a case.
Planned Parenthood CEO and President Vicki Cowart said in a statement Sunday that eyewitnesses believed Dear was motivated by his opposition to abortion.
Several vigils were held at the weekend in Colorado Springs, a place known for its conservative politics and fundamental religious groups.
She also said though he didn’t talk much about Planned Parenthood, he was opposed to abortion.
She also says Dear was often plotting revenge against people he felt had wronged him and “it didn’t take much for him to feel like somebody did him wrong”. They are 29-year old Ke’Arre Stewart, 35-year-old Jennifer Markovsky and 44-year-old UCCS Officer Garret Swasey.
It is unlikely that Dear will be charged during the appearance Monday, said Rob McCallum, a spokesman for the court.
One police officer and two civilians died in the attack, which, according to newly emerging details, began just outside the building, adjacent to a shopping area on the northwest side of Colorado’s second-largest city. She said law enforcement agencies in the 22 counties where Planned Parenthood of Southwest Florida and Central Florida operate reached out to her, before she could contact them, to let her know they were available.
It’s not clear if federal charges will be filed, but May said it’s been discussed with U.S. Attorney John Walsh. “And it’s our job to work to make sure people both feel safe and are safe”, Dunlap told NBC Los Angeles.

In 1992, after Dear and Micheau were separated, he was arrested in SC on a charge of criminal sexual conduct after a woman said he put a knife to her neck, forced her into her apartment and sexually assaulted her. No records show how the case was ultimately handled.
