Van Persie’s wife is said to have had reservations over moving to Turkey but she is now said to be willing to relocate after spending the last week in Istanbul.

According to multiple reports from multiple media outlets, Robin Van Persie is all but done at Manchester United. The deal is reportedly worth around £5 million and is expected to announced by both parties next week.

There were already rumors early this summer about Van Persie’s possible stint in Super Lig, but the 30-year old Dutch striker stressed that he wasn’t interested in moving to Istanbul. With Radamel Falcao also misfiring, Van Persie’s absence saw United suffer.

Ex- Arsenal captain Van Persie joined United from the Gunners back in a £24m deal in the summer of 2012.

A Fenerbahce statement simply confirmed: “Fenerbahce opened negotiations with Luis Nani and his club, Manchester United, to acquire the player”.

So a season being used as an impact substitute by Van Gaal is not an option for him.

The established wisdom is that, like the TV series 24, Van Persie only had one great season at United.

Teenage left-back Shaw was placed on an intensive tailor-made conditioning and fitness regime when the season finished on the orders of his anxious Manchester United boss Van Gaal. He scored 48 goals in 76 Premier League appearances in his three seasons at Manchester United, but after winning the title in his first year, his productivity – and playing time – decreased each season thereafter. The ex- Inter and Lazio official Giuliano Terraneo became the club’s first foreign sporting director when he arrived from Italy last month, while Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira became the first foreign manager at the club since Christoph Daum in 2009. Turned out he fell out of favor rather quickly, finishing the season with just 10 goals in all competitions, clearly now looking washed up more than anything else.
