Trying to become the first to win three straight LPGA Tour events since Inbee Park in 2013, the 20-year-old Jutanugarn shot a 1-over 73 to reach 10-under 206. He will try to defend his U.S. Open title in three weeks. At 9 under, Molder was a stroke ahead of Webb Simpson and two in front of second-ranked Jordan Spieth and Patrik Reed.
A solid two-putt finally saw Daly pick his ball up out of the cup, but meant he needed to pencil in a quintuple-bogey 9 on the par-4.
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (AP) Rocco Mediate stretched his Senior PGA Championship lead to four strokes at Harbor Shores, birdieing the final two holes for a 5-under 66.
The 53 year-old American, who had led Colin Montgomerie heading into the final day, holed a 15-foot putt for par on the final hole for a three-stroke victory over the Scot. The three-time PGA Tour victor has successfully fought a rare skin condition, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, to play the 50-and-over tour. Mediate led the entire tournament, and posted a final round score of 66 to claim victory.
Gene Sauers had a bogey-free 63, while Mike Goodes shot 64.
Mediate, a six-time PGA Tour victor, said the experience of losing the 2008 U.S. Open in a 18-hole playoff to Tiger Woods had helped him close out the win over Montgomerie, who has won three senior majors since joining the Champions Tour in 2013.
Montgomerie shot a final round of 67 to match Snead for the second-best total in the tournament’s history. The 58-year-old German is going for an unprecedented sweep of all five PGA Tour Champions majors. In Alabama, Langer joined Nicklaus as the only players to win four different senior majors.
Bernhard Langer, fresh off the 100th victory of his career at the major Regions Tradition in Alabama, opened with a 69. Langer would finish 3rd. Brandt Jobe, Kirk Triplett, Tom Lehman, J.R. Roth and Rod Spittle are at 8-under.
John DalCorobbo tied for seventh at 11 under to top the club professionals, shooting a 71. DalCorobbo is the golf coach at Speedway High School and the assistant golf pro at Brickyard Crossing, the golf course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He tied for second at Hogan’s Alley previous year, one stroke behind Chris Kirk.
