Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Revealed – Including NWA, Deep
Steve Miller says he is pleased with news of his induction into the 2016 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, even though he’s been eligible for more than 20 years.

Deep Purple is definitely a worthy rock band on the list of those which made it. They made it 23 years after first becoming eligible, and were nominated three previous times before finally getting voted onto the list of inductees.
“I’m sure he’ll be invited”, Neilsen says of the possibility of original drummer Bun E. Carlos joining Cheap Trick on stage at the induction ceremony.
Cheap Trick, like Steve Miller, had also never before been nominated.
Last year’s event featured performances from Beck, Dave Grohl and John Legend; Lou Reed, Green Day, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bill Wither and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band were inducted in 2015.
Deep Purple, formed in England in 1968, are regarded as heavy metal pioneers thanks to their ear-splitting live shows, ground-breaking albums and classic rock radio staples Hush and Smoke On The Water, the latter song including one of the most recognizable guitar riffs in the genre. The 31st annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony is set for April 8 at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., which marks the second time the venue will host the event.
“Only Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony gives it a run for the money as far as recognizability and badassed-ness”, the Hall of Fame announcement said. HBO will televise highlights later in the spring.
“Thanks to all the fans who have supported us for all these years and to the Hall of Fame members who cast their votes”, said bass player Tom Petersson.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2016 inductees have been revealed. Since the 1970s, Cheap Trick have been a constant presence on the touring circuit, making them one of rock’s more prolific acts. Just as divisive as their careers were, so too are the responses to N.W.A.’s induction into the Hall of Fame. We’re extremely excited and happy for that. “Of course, you don’t just waltz in after those 25 years, but add an extra 10 to 15 years or more, and you see why some fans are saying, “’bout time!” Other notable contenders shut out included The Cars, The Smiths, Nine Inch Nails, Los Lobos and Chic.
