Rock Band 4 is compatible with these legacy instruments

Pretty much as long as the controller is wireless it will work with the new game. The price difference comes down to the Xbox One edition requiring a “Legacy Game Controller Adapter”.

Rock Band 4 developer Harmonix Music Systems announced today that pre-orders for the stand-alone retail version of Rock Band 4 are now open, and the PS4 version will cost $59.99, whereas the Xbox One version is more expensive at $79.99. Apparently so, as those who own an Xbox One might have to fork out a wee bit more when they want to enjoy Rock Band 4 on their consoles using last gen instruments, in the form of an adapter.

“The adapter plugs into your Xbox One via USB and wirelessly supports up to four controllers simultaneously”.

Rock Band 4 is also offering an expanded set of gameplay concepts, allowing players to execute freestyle solos on both the guitars and on drums, which gamers can use to express their personality and make each track unique.

It will not be part of the core package and gamers will have to get it separately, although it will be offered at the same time as Rock Band 4 launches. In addition to standalone discs, you can buy Rock Band 4 bundles that come with the game and a guitar ($130) or another that includes the game, a guitar, and drum set ($250).
