“We are now gathering additional details regarding the situation at Dallas Love Field”, Southwest said in a statement. He was conscious when he was taken away from the scene, Blankenbaker said. The police officer that fired the shots has been removed from patrol duty pending a review. The airport foresees major delays as a result of this incident, as all passengers will have to be rescreened.

Officials later identified the suspect as Shawn Nicolas Diamond, and said he was hospitalized in stable condition Friday evening.

Blankenbaker confirmed witness reports that a man went after officers with the rock after being asked to stop. A man repeatedly yells “stand down!” and a woman is heard screaming.

Video images of the woman’s vehicle showed broken windows and numerous dents.

Dallas Police said that they believe the incident involved a domestic dispute between a woman in a auto and the man who was shot.

Brown said it was unclear at this time how many shots the officer fired. Torres said he was not critically wounded.

By late Friday afternoon, almost 100 flights at Love Field had been delayed, representing a higher percentage of delays than at busier airports including DFW, Los Angeles International and Boston.
