Eyewitnesses told Ma’an that a rocket fired by an Israeli drone hit a water reservoir and another shell landed in an open area in Beit Hanoun.

Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes in the blockaded Gaza Strip on Sunday, shortly after a rocket was sacked into southern Israel.

The Palestinian Maan news agency identified the Israeli target as a military training ground.

The rocket, which was launched on Sunday afternoon, caused no damage or injuries.

It said Turkey will continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people against Israeli action that violates worldwide law and offends the conscience.

Palestinian militants in Gaza launched a rocket into Israel on Sunday, and Israel bombed the Gaza town of Beit Hanoun in retaliation.

Military spokesman Lt Col Peter Lerner said it remained “committed to the stability of the region and operated in order to bring quiet to the people of southern Israel”. Israel targeted Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip by air and with tank fire on August 21, 2016 after a rocket fired from the Palestinian enclave crashed into the Israeli city of Sderot.

Two lesser known militant groups, one of them aligned with DAESH, claimed responsibility for the rocket attack on Sderot, according to Israeli media. A rocket, believed to have been fired from the north of the Gaza Strip, was found between two residential houses in the town.

Earlier on Sunday, Hamas held an anti-Israel military parade through the streets of Rafah in southern Gaza.
