Sony is not the only one expected to bring the new feature to their game consoles.
Meanwhile, PlayStation Lifestyle reported that the Japanese multinational conglomerate will be making an announcement regarding a brand new console later this year. At the Xbox Spring Showcase, Xbox chief Phil Spencer suggested that Microsoft could concentrate on upgrading its machines in the future, and that PC gaming could be a major focus of its gaming output. The game will be the first to allow players on Xbox One to play with those on PC and with PC players already able to play against those on PS4, many have speculated that this will lead to the barriers between consoles eroding. “It’s so intrinsically built into how consoles get manufactured and made and the full business model, that I’d be surprised to see another generation”.
It’s unclear if Sony would be offering a deal to those who have the current PS4 or if it will cost more than the $350 price point.
Perhaps the most obvious explanation for this is sheer expense.
As of right now, players on PS4 can play with those on PC.
“Rocket League” developer Psyonix says they are already working on cross-network play between Xbox One and PlayStation 4. This may not be the case initially, as reports have suggested that due to processing restrictions with the existing Sony console that so-called “asynchronous reprojection” will need to be utilized in order to deliver similar quality visuals to those delivered by Oculus Rift on the PC.

According to Independent, gamers could soon be getting an improved version of the “PlayStation 4.’ While it will not release as an entirely new device, the upcoming ‘PlayStation 4.5” is expected to be capable of a 4K resolution. What other games do you hope get cross-platform play?
