Rockets land near Baghdad airport, 23 killed
On Thursday at least 15 rockets crashed in and around the camp near Baghdad’s global airport killing more than two dozen people.

Officials say Thursday night’s barrage of rockets also killed three Iraqi soldiers.
A former military base in Iraq housing exiled Iranian opposition members has come under intense rocket fire.
“The Department, through its Senior Advisor for MEK Resettlement, will remain actively engaged in the worldwide effort to relocate the residents of Camp Hurriya to safe, permanent locations as soon as possible”, said Kerry. After the clerics seized control of the government, they launched a massive crackdown on the MEK, with as many as 120,000 people associated with the movement killed by the Iranian government. This suggests that Iran, or forces aligned with Iran, were responsible for the attack.
A spokesman for the Mujahedin said the attack was the worst to have targeted the camp so far, and claimed that several people were killed but could not say how many.
The rockets were fired from the Bakriya area, located about 4 miles northeast of the airport, joint operations command spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Rasool reportedly said.
This was not the first attack since Camp Liberty became home to the Iranian group, which is strongly opposed to Iran’s clerical regime.
Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the Iranian resistance, condemned the attack.
Past year Islamic State militants fired rockets near the worldwide airport as it sought to destabilise the capital. “The United States and the United Nations are fully aware of this reality”.
“This is a most deplorable act and I am greatly concerned at the harm… inflicted on those living at Camp Liberty”, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres said.
Secretary of State John Kerry released a statement also condemning the attack, and urging the Iraqi government to ensure full medical treatment to the injured.
The last group of the MKO terrorists was evicted by the Iraqi government in September 2013 and relocated to Camp Hurriyet to await potential relocation to third countries.
