Boston (29-17) kept piling up hits and runs in Wednesday’s 10-3 win over Colorado (21-24), the fourth straight victory for the Red Sox after dropping the opener of their six-game homestand. Despite jumping out to a 2-0 first inning lead, the Sox offense could only muster five hits off Colorado starter Jon Gray, who went seven strong innings.

Bradley came much closer to setting the Red Sox record for longest hit streak, but ultimately fell short of that goal as well.

If you’re thinking Jackie Bradley Jr. leading off is a waste, just remember that if he’s batting here rather than sixth, that’s on average something like 90 more at bats he’d see over the course of the season hitting there.

Bradley had been in the nine-hole when the streak started.

Wright gave up the first run of the night in the top of the 2nd when he gave up an RBI groundout to Reynolds.

NOTES: Boston celebrated the 30th anniversary of its 1986 American League Championship team in a pregame ceremony Wednesday. He then came around to score on David Ortiz’s two-run homer into the bullpen.

While Bradley’s run has caught the eyes of everyone, Bogaerts has flown under the radar. Chris Young’s two-out double and Blake Swihart’s walk brought pinch hitter Mookie Betts to the plate.

The Boston Red Sox offense keeps bashing its way through opposing pitching staffs and the Colorado Rockies seem helpless to stop it.

Washington trailed 1-0 in the sixth inning before Harper ended a 4-for-33 skid with a shot into the upper deck in right field, his 12th homer of the season. I told myself, you are going out there and swing three times. “I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed”.

The Rockies were outscored 18-6 in the first two games of the series and had lost six of their past seven games coming in. All eyes were set on the Red Sox outfielder. Buchholz completed the first three innings on just 29 pitches without allowing a base runner. He retired Bradley twice on changeups, a pitch he throws a mere 2.7 percent of the time, according to FanGraphs. In 1987, Paul Molitor of the Milwaukee Brewers hit safely in 39 consecutive games before he went 0-for-4 in a 1-0, extra-inning win over Cleveland. Farrell said LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (right patella subluxation) came out of his rehab start at Triple-A Pawtucket “in pretty good shape”.
