Rockies use pair of 4-run innings to pummel Braves 11-2
It was a long time coming, but Colorado finally got their first win of the season in a game they were trailing after the 7th inning. He has thrown 17 innings against them and has given up a total of 21 base hits.

Atlanta Braves’ A.J. Pierzynski hits a two-run home run in the second inning of a baseball game against the Colorado Rockies, Saturday, July 16, 2016, in Atlanta.
It was d’Arnaud’s third hit of the game and gave the Braves just their third 1-0 walk-off victory in the 20-year history of Turner Field.
Atlanta used four relievers and the Rockies one before Germen (2-1) gave up Ender Inciarte’s leadoff single in the ninth.
Foltynewicz was relieved by Hunter Cervenka, who uncorked a wild pitch, allowing Reynolds to score from third, cutting Atlanta’s lead to 3-2. After giving up a one-out single in the first inning to LeMahieu, Foltynewicz retired 12 straight batters before an infield hit by Raburn and a walk to Reynolds in the fifth.
Teheran, the Braves’ All-Star Game representative, remained winless at home this season as he was again the victim of no run support.
Blackmon singled with two outs in the sixth for Colorado’s second hit and moved up on a wild pitch before Teheran got DJ LeMahieu to bounce out.
Colorado went up 1-0 in the first on Carlos Gonzalez’s RBI single and took a 5-0 lead in the third thanks to pitcher Lucas Harrell’s two-base throwing error.
Atlanta finished with just seven hits and were just 1 for 9 with runners in scoring position. d’Arnaud led the way with three hits while Adonis Garcia had two.
Not bad considering the sweltering conditions and a 102-degree heat index.
“That’s why Teheran is an All-Star”, Rockies outfielder Brandon Barnes said.
“I just tried to see the ball down (in the grass) and once I read the down angle, I was off”, Story said.
Chad Bettis didn’t figure into the game’s decision on Saturday, but he threw the ball well all the same, going 6.2 innings and allowing three runs on six hits and three walks with seven strikeouts. The rookie has a 3.11 ERA and 64 strikeouts in his last 10 games.
Foltynewicz cruised through his first seven innings, and Atlanta opted to let him go into the eighth, but very quickly he got into trouble in the top half of that frame, and eventually was removed after facing three hitters-and failing to get an out-in the inning. “It was fun. I was glad to keep us in the game”. He credited Jace Peterson with drawing a walk to set up his at-bat.
“I wanted to shorten my swing up”, shortstop d’Arnaud said. “I was early, so I had to make an adjustment from there”.
Braves: RHP Arodys Vizcaino hurt his side after throwing three pitches in the ninth inning and had to leave the game. The Rockies had won five of Bettis’ last six starts despite his 5.79 ERA during that span.
Rockies: Raburn was in the lineup for the first time in the team’s last seven games because of a sore quadriceps.

Braves: RHP Julio Teheran (3-8) is 4-1 with a 3.41 ERA in five career starts against Colorado.
