Rod has RBI in Fenway finale, Yankees beat Red Sox

Ortiz left the game and won’t likely play tonight as a result, but X-Rays did show to break or damage that would put him on the DL. Will he be booed?

Just ahead of embattled slugger Alex Rodrguez’s final game as a New York Yankee Friday night, former teammate Derek Jeter released a statement about his professional relationship with the fellow infielder. A-Rod’s contract as a special adviser will run through December 31, 2017.

“It was a fun request, and I don’t have any problem with Joe saying no on that”, Rodriguez said.

“It’s gonna be unusual and surreal”, Rodriguez said earlier this week of his final appearance in pinstripes. The fans of NY remember me more as third baseman.

Rodriguez drove in a run with a bases-loaded dribbler, capping a three-run rally in the eighth inning that lifted the New York Yankees over the Red Sox 4-2 on Thursday night and sent New York’s polarizing designated hitter out of Boston with one last victory.

Rodriguez had slept late, ate his egg whites, stretched and took one final trip to the ballpark Stadium as a NY player. “It’s not like I wouldn’t like to see it, but we’re still in that part of the season where we’re trying to win this”. “Not how I pictured it when I woke up this morning, but definitely I’m glad that run came in and we won the game”.

When the Yankees signed Rodriguez to his outrageous 10-year, $275 million contract extension, in 2007, they did not know he had used steroids in the past and would use them again. Oscar Hernandez, just called up to the D-Backs from the team’s Double A club, hit the first home run of his career in the top of the twelfth, delivering a win for Arizona.

NY avoided a $6 million marketing payment due previous year for matching Willie Mays’ total of 660 home runs.

“It would have been fun – I would have loved to gone for [700 homers]”. In an interview with YES Network’s Michael Kay, A-Rod admitted that he nearly rejected the Yankees’ stance that he was no longer valuable to the club.

Pettitte: “I had a chance to see Alex as a young player in the league, and I knew immediately he was going to be special”. Of course, having one last series at Fenway before his final game at Yankee Stadium would have provided a great backdrop to his final games. I also remember the not so glorious acts, such as slapping Bronson Arroyos glove when he was about to get tagged out, or when he yelled “I got it” while running to third base in Toronto causing a pop up to fall in between two Blue Jays. “He’s probably saving me some embarrassment, so that’s not a bad thing”. “I think he could do anything in baseball he wanted, from instruction to coaching although I don’t think he would be able to do that fulltime”. He must also have a say in the decisions that impact the team’s performance. Alex was still that guy, just look at the ticket prices for the game tonight in the secondary market.
