The full lineup was announced today during a Netflix panel at the Television Critics Association meeting. “[‘Beat Bugs’ is] a tremendous show for kids that combines handsome animation with great stories and obviously some of the best songs ever written”. Also, reps revealed the series’ second season will premiere in the U.S. November 18 and Australian Netflix viewers will get both seasons at once on the free-to-air Seven Network.
Other stars covering songs for the series include James Corden, Regina Spektor, Of Monsters and Men, and The Shins. On Nov. 4, the first season soundtrack, plus a “Best Of” compilation of seasons 1 and 2 will be released on CD.
“Beat Bugs” will become available to stream on Netflix starting August 3, while the soundtrack will be available worldwide exclusively on iTunes the same day.
The streaming service has announced that it’s working on a new animated series for kids based on Motown’s catalog of songs, which will be executive produced by Smokey Robinson. Songs from artists such as Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie and The Supremes are expected to be among the included tracks. Grace is producing the Netflix original in conjunction with Beyond Screen Production.
