Rodgers admits his future as Liverpool manager is in doubt

Liverpool-based journalist Graham Beecroft has said that the Reds hierarchy have already chose to sack manager Brendan Rodgers, with a decision made before the game against Carlisle, according to Liverpool FC blog Empire of the Kop.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes the club’s transfer policy has “killed” Brendan Rodgers.

His side are now top of the standings of the embryonic table and De Boer has again been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Liverpool job.

Liverpool are now on a terrible run of form in the league and Rodgers is aware anything less than three points against Aston Villa tonight will further fuel the rumours about his impending exit from the club.

‘I’m never complacent enough to think my job has never been (in danger).

“In terms of names linked, when you’re a manager of a club this size there is always going to be speculation about your job, especially when not winning”, he said on Friday.

When it takes you penalty kicks to beat Carlisle United, the team with the worst defense in League Two, maybe it is time to take your football club in a new direction.

“It’s something that doesn’t frighten me, I’ve got an inherent belief in what I do”.

The Anfield boss is under severe pressure with the Reds understood to be lining up Jurgen Klopp as his replacement.

A year ago Rodgers told Spanish sports daily Marca that he hoped to be manager of Liverpool for 20 years. If you’re not winning, that will intensify. I’m pretty confident there’s a group of people who don’t want me here to be the manager.

“Young Firmino landed awkwardly in the game the other night and there is another scan on his back, but he may have cracked a bone in his back“.

“I have regular contact with the owners and the relationship has always been strong”.

“I don’t shy away from the fact you need to get results, and perform well, in order to stay in work”.

“The pressure is huge but I embrace that challenge”.

Hopefully next time more than one will find its way into the back of the opposition net. Hopefully that will see me here for a longer period.
