Rodney Harrison Says Colin Kaepernick Is ‘Not Black’ Amid 49ers QB’s Protest
‘I tell you this, I’m a black man. Even when those black Americans are being killed.

He then went on to say that Kaepernick shouldn’t have done what he did because he is not black. None of those people will come out and say anything when people are being brutalized. His refusal to stand for the national anthem until there is real change in the way people of color are treated in America has made national headlines and it seems that everyone, in every walk of life, has an opinion on his decision.
“I mean, I’ve had times where one of my roommates was moving out of a house in college and because we were the only black people in that neighborhood, the cops got called and all of us had guns drawn on us”. “Reality confronts us all the time, there’s no Sunday off”. He’s in a quarterback battle.
Harrison supported Kaepernick’s basic stance, saying that “his heart is in the right place”. But what happened to all this Colin Kaepernick talk when he was making $300,000? You know, I guess it’s easier to sit there and say I know I’m guaranteed $11 million, I made eight figures a year ago, so I’m set financially for the rest of my life, now I can get up and talk and feel like I have the freedom to say whatever I want.
“See, that’s my thing”. It becomes a distraction. The one point he does make that does have some validity is that the 49ers are not a good enough team to try and get better and handle distractions. Biracial people are generally afforded the right to decide their own racial identity, but it doesn’t sound like Harrison thinks that should be afforded to Kaepernick.
He made the controversial comments as the backlash against Kaepernick for refused to stand for the national anthem before a pre-season game continued. He went so far to say that he actually didn’t know Kaepernick’s background.

“It can alienate your teammates, but it can also bring dissension in that locker room. I think his heart is in the right place, I just think he was going about it in the wrong way”, he said on Tuesday morning on SportsTalk 790.
