Roger Goodell isn’t a fan of Colin Kaepernick

As of last week, Kaepernick’s jersey sale ranked number eight after just one week of the quarterback making headlines.

Kaepernick wrote in a post on Instagram: “I want to thank everyone who has shown me love and support, it truly means a lot!”

Kaepernick, 28, has opted not to stand for the Star-Spangled Banner in pre-season. There’s going to be people that disagree with him and there’s going to be people that agree with him which is what I think our country stands for.

Kaepernick began his protest by sitting down the anthem before the first three preseason games.

“I wish people would get as outraged about the murders that are happening on the streets as they are about a protest”, Kaepernick said.

“NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Wednesday he supports Colin Kaepernick’s efforts to improve society, noting, however, that “we believe very strongly in patriotism in the NFL”.

Goodell said: “Well, my personal thoughts are …” “We live in an imperfect society”.

“For me, that support is something I have to give back to the communities for that cause because that’s what their belief is, that’s what my belief is and we can work towards a common goal”.

O’Neal also said that he wouldn’t take the same approach as Kaepernick out of respect for his family members who have been in the military and law enforcement.

So I don’t necessarily agree with what he is doing. “And I think that’s something very necessary for us to improve as a country”. “I think he cares about some real, legitimate issues that need to be talked about and if nothing else what he’s doing has generated more conversation around some topics that need to be talked about”. The world needs to see people coming together versus being individuals.”. We encourage them to be respectful and it’s important for them to do that. “Whether he believed that or not, I don’t know, but I say that because if you want to get things done, you have to do it in a way where everyone’s at the table”. His protest has also received its fair share of vocal criticism, including a boycott threat by the Santa Clara Police Union, which is threatening to stop working 49ers games at Levi’s Stadium.
