Roger Moore: James Bond could never be gay
“But they wouldn’t be Bond for the simple reason that wasn’t what Ian Fleming wrote”, says the man who did a movie where James Bond has a laser battle in space, which wasn’t what Ian Fleming wrote.

According to Moore, to do this would contradict the character as created by Bond author Ian Fleming.
Moore, 88, also told the Daily Mail that political correctness has turned Bond villains into generic evildoers.
It’s unclear exactly which word was used, but The Times claim is was “expletive”.
“GoldenEye star Pierce Brosnan is a fellow P.C. Kool-Aid drinker, saying, “‘Sure, why not?’ when asked if the character could be gay, though he doubted producers would allow it”.
Speaking on Loose Women he said: “I think he’s terrific, he’s a great Bond. But it would certainly make for interesting viewing”. “Anything’s possible”, Daniel Craig responded when asked if the next Bond could be black, gay, or female (or a black gay female!).
Those cast in the role of James Bond have always met a tried and tested criteria, e.g.at the top of their acting game, witty, confident and fawned over by women around the world.
He added: “I said: “It doesn’t count because you pay for them.’ He replied: “Yes it does because sometimes when I pay, they refuse”. Moore insists, however, that his quote was taken out of context and that he wasn’t talking about Elba, only Bond’s nationality.
