Rogers Cup excited about Raonic boost
Playing his 11th Grand Slam final, Murray was the overwhelming favourites as for the first time he was neither facing Novak Djokovic nor Roger Federer.

Much like in the previous two sets, Murray and Raonic exchanged holds to tie at 3-3 after the first six games. “Hopefully, through to the end of this year and beyond it, I can win some more slams”.
Pumped up by the home crowd, Murray took the first set 6-4 in under half an hour, but tensions began to mount as he struggled to make break points in the second set.
Andy Murray’s formative training ground in his hometown of Dunblane is expecting an influx of tourists following his second Wimbledon victory. “I’m going to make sure I do everything I can to be back here for another chance”.
“I was distracted by the major event that was coming up because that was what really motivated me”.
MATT Little, Andy Murray’s long-term fitness trainer, reckons that getting the Scot through the clay and grass court seasons without any injury niggles is as big a success as the 29-year-old lifting the trophy itself. There was a different feeling when he won it for the first time in 2013 because there had been such a long wait for a British men’s singles champion.
“It is different. I feel happier this time”.
“I wasn’t thinking about that week, maybe Cincinnati or something like that”.
Following his shortcomings to win his first ever Grand Slam title, Raonic heads to the ATP 1000 Masters in Toronto on July 25-31, where he could play the likes of Murray, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.
Andy Murray has set his sights on becoming world number one but accepts it will be hard to usurp Novak Djokovic.
‘I would say it’s looking unlikely, but even if I don’t play I’m still probably going to go anyway just to be there with the team.
“I think I did the best I could, I tried to put the things together”.
Rest will be the priority over the next few days with Murray having virtually confirmed he will not be playing in Great Britain’s Davis Cup quarter-final against Serbia this weekend.

“From what I saw of his matches he had a pretty good opportunity to win this tournament without losing a set. I’ve been able to do it the last five tournaments I’ve played but we play 18 or 19 tournaments a year so, I need to find a way to try and maintain that”, he said. “I felt I’d prepared really well, I had a great Queen’s and I knew I was in with a good shout”. “I feel like this was sort of more for myself”, Murray, who became a father in February with wife Kim, who watched from the front row of his box, told reporters.
