‘Rogue One’: First trailer for new ‘Star Wars’ universe movie released

Rogue One is the first standalone Star Wars movie, the tale of an unlikely group of heroes who band together to steal the plans to the original Death Star.

The director revealed that the film is in same universe as of the Star Wars chapters, but the only difference is that it is a self-contained story. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda would still technically be in hiding and also the only two Jedi alive.

The trailer is 90 seconds packed with chill-inducing action and character introduction, yet manages to tell us little about the plotline.

However, Rey turned out to be successful in “Star Wars: The Force Awaken” but, unfortunately, Jyn Erso might not have the same fate.

Here’s a quick timeline of all the theatrical releases, with release dates, to help keep the “Star Wars” timeline straight. With Star Wars Celebration just a couple of months away (it takes place the weekend before San Diego Comic Con in July), expect to see some more footage around then. All that is really seen is a new kind of Stormtrooper and the sound of a TIE Fighter in the background. Other such films will be prequel based around both Han Solo and Boba Fett.

Where does it fit into the “Star Wars” trilogies? Through the use of extensive CG, they will be digitally re-creating a young version of Peter Cushing to fill the role.

The trailer for the Star Wars spin-off Rogue One finally dropped today and people are freaking out. Is it Palpatine? Or is it Darth Vader prior to being scarred and mutilated? Edwards directed blockbusters such as Godzilla.

Rogue One also stars Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker and Riz Ahmed, and is set for release in December.

It’s not due in theaters until December 16, but we’ll probably get many more trailers to hold us over before then.

'Shouldn't I have to wait? I'm used to waiting ten years for a new 'Star Wars&#039 movie and twenty for a good one
