The Belgian star was spending time with his family in an Antwerp hotel when Police were called to reports of a man acting suspiciously.
When the officers arrived, however, they immediately recognised Nainggolan and realised that the guests had make a mistake. Not so. Fortunately the police officers who raided the hotel did recognise Nainggolan and insisted on having their photos taken with him.
Guests had been alarmed by Nainggolan’s hat and tattoos, and called the police.
“Evidently, I have a scary appearance”, the player told the La Derniere Heure newspaper.
“Luckily the police recognized me quickly”, he added.
Nainggolan was in the Belgium squad to face Spain this week, another fixture that was cancelled due to a security risk with suspected terrorists on the loose in Brussels suburb Molenbeek.

He will now return to the Italian capital, where the Giallorossi resume Serie A action against Bologna this weekend.
