Romney hints at ‘bombshell’ in Trump tax returns

An aide to Reid said the senator was tickled when he heard Romney’s words, marveling that of all people, it was the 2012 nominee making these insinuations.

There are many reasons why a taxpayer being audited might want to keep their tax returns private.

Given the complex matrix of partnerships and business structures disclosed on Trump’s filings with the Federal Election Commission, the scope of information available through Trump’s personal tax returns is hard to predict. But the nature of Trump’s charitable endeavors, his effective tax rate and the underlying profitability of his business operations would all likely loom large.

While Cruz and Rubio have yet to release their tax returns this campaign season, years of tax returns from both candidates are already publicly available from the time when they ran for Senate.

Cuomo then asked Trump what he meant by “religion”.

After deciding last January “to give other leaders in the Party the opportunity to become our next nominee”, the fiscally liberal flip-flopper apparently doesn’t like the fact that billionaire businessman Donald Trump is running away with the GOP race.

“Tax people will pick apart everything”, Gregory said.

On Twitter, Romney once again challenged Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to release his tax returns.

Mitt Romney, the ghost of dependable and predictable Republican nomination processes past, has appeared on the 2016 stage to raise questions about Donald Trump’s taxes in an attack that was used against the former MA governor four years ago. Romney is suggesting that perhaps Donald Trump is not as wealthy as he claims, and is not paying certain taxes. He chose to release 10 years’ of tax returns, after Richard Nixon challenged him to make financial disclosures, said tax historian Joseph Thorndike of Tax Analysts. “I think there’s something there”.

“The reason I think there’s a bombshell in there is because every time he’s asked about his taxes, he dodges and delays and says well, we’re working on it”, he said. Should outside tax experts call attention to what they think are errors or questionable claims, IRS agents may choose to revisit those items in the audit.

Cruz and Sen. Marco Rubio said they were planning to release their own returns later this week.
