Romo’s season over after re-injury to collarbone

But the Cowboys (3-8) could be facing a season-ending stretch without him after losing all seven games in his absence. “[Romo] is a warrior”. Romo left the field favoring his left arm after remaining on the turf for several minutes. First, they lost their All-Pro wide recevier Dez Bryant in Week One to a foot injury, which required surgery.

On the next play, Kuechly made a nifty over-the-head catch on a ball thrown to Jason Witten. It would also allow the Cowboys to see if they have a legitimate back-up to Romo who capable of winning games, as the Cowboys have not won a game without Romo since 2010.

Before returning against the Dolphins, a 24-14 Cowboys’ victory in Week 11, Romo acknowledged the risk of returning after a long layoff, saying that the collarbone, while healed, could re-break easier than it did the first time. “(Cornerback) Bené (Benwikere) laid a good block on someone, and I was able to scurry in there”.

Meanwhile, multiple reports confirmed that quarterback Tony Romo will not return to action for the Cowboys this season.

Gano added a 43-yard field goal with 3:27 left in the first half following a drive that went 48 yards in 10 plays and 5:48, and that pushed the score to 13-3.

The fracture to Romo’s left clavicle isn’t as severe this time as the one he suffered in the Week 2 game at Philadelphia, but it’s significant enough that it will take a few months to fully heal. “Obviously, you don’t replace a guy like Tony Romo, but at the same time, you’ve got to be you, and hopefully the guys rally around you, and you move forward”.

“The hard part is playing when you’re trying not to get hurt, which is silly, ” Romo said after he threw three interceptions – two returned for touchdowns. “There is no evidence we brought him back too soon”. We all love him.

“Oh man. I haven’t done that in a while”, Kuechly said.

Romo acknowledged some rust, saying that he was “just a hair late in the thought process compared to normal”. A follow-up check-up on the collarbone is expected later this week and could decide the status of Romo. Or would that pick be better used to fill an immediate need, and roll the dice that Romo will be healthy enough to make a Super Bowl run in the next couple of seasons? Blame them getting behind, but they also couldn’t run before the game got out of hand.

A second collarbone injury to a 35-year old quarterback may force Jerry Jones and the Cowboys brass to examine the future at the quarterback position.

The Cowboys spent the offseason building a team they thought could end a 20-year championship drought. It was frustrating. I cost my team. I can tell you right now that this team will never, ever quit competing.
