Romo targets Cowboys revival

Romo is expected to start against the Dolphins, though coach Jason Garrett is taking things day by day as his 35-year-old quarterback heals from a broken left collarbone.

“We have to get better in all three areas”. They are sitting at 2-7 on the season and there is no question that many are writing them off already. He did not practice Wednesday, following the same routine he has had since last season to help preserve and strengthen his back.

There’s no wildcard spot in their future based purely on the fact that the NFC Wildcard spots as of Week 11 fall to Green Bay and Atlanta, which both sit four games ahead of the Cowboys in the win column. The Dolphins played one of their best games of the season in their last home contest though, winning 44-26 against Houston in Campbell’s debut in Week 7. Winston scored the victor on the next snap. The Cowboys are tied for 30th in the league in points scored after ranking fifth last season. “But what you have to do is find ways to win games and we’ve done that in the past”.

If any quarterback can rally a team around him it is Romo. The slump has seen them fall into last place in the NFC East and 2 1/2 games behind NY.

The Dallas Cowboys are moving on from quarterback Brandon Weeden, leaving the former first-round pick’s future in question. Is it likely that they win seven straight? Weeden was released because of the return of Romo and because he was surpassed as the backup by Matt Cassel. Not that Romo will automatically fix that, either.

“I just know it’s part of football”, McFadden said.

“There’s only one thing left to do, win the whole (expletive) thing”.

“But you got to play”, Romo said. Additionally, two defenders that the team had high hopes for, controversial defensive end Greg Hardy and the sometimes erratic but very talented linebacker Rolando McClain, had to serve four game suspensions before they could contribute to the team.

If this game had been played in Week 10, the Broncos would have been favored by a field goal.

“He [Byant] went through the walkthrough and had a good walkthrough; don’t anticipate him being a full participant in practice”, the head coach disclosed.

Even optimistic owner Jerry Jones, who gave Romo the franchise’s first $100 million contract two years ago, gradually altered his view of Romo’s return as the losses mounted without him. “You want to have guys like that, but at the same time, you got to go back and do what you’re supposed to do, and Tony really understands that balance”.
