Ron Perlman joins “Harry Potter” spin-off “Fantastic Beasts”

There’s no official mention of what role Perlman will portray, though sources close to the outlet claim that he has joined the ranks to play a goblin.

Perlman will be in the company of an all-star cast which includes academy award-winner Jon Voight, Colin Farrell, Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Alison Sudol.

For those unfamiliar, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them takes place about 70 years before the events seen in the Harry Potter movies/books; he becomes relevant when Harry Potter reads Scamander’s book.

Ron Perlman has had many faces over the years and he’s bringing all of that experience on the set of ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’.

The Hellboy actor is apparently taking on the role of a goblin of a few sort for the film, so it could be a motion capture job or just a voice narration piece to it. That part comes as something of a surprise, since the goblins in the Harry Potter films have generally been played by little people like Warwick Davis. On a trip to New York, he meets several characters.

“Fantastic Beasts” is set to open in late 2016. The film is directed by David Yates who has plenty of experience with the wizarding world as he directed four of the seven Harry Potter films.
