Ron Rivera: Panthers losing bats as ploy, denies gay slurs used
Everyone seems to have an opinion on Sunday’s back-and-forth between New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman, but NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino’s carries plenty of weight when discussing the league’s referees.

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera has chose to end the Carolina Panthers’ motivational ritual of bringing out a baseball bat to pre-game warm-ups, he told reporters on Tuesday.
However, photos throughout the season also show Panthers players bringing the bat onto the field – a practice that teams at all levels have used before the Panthers.
As you know by now, Beckham launched his helmet at Norman’s after the whistle on a play where neither was involved in the tackle, and it has earned him a one-game suspension.
According to the report, Thrash will hear the appeal on Wednesday and isn’t expected to take long to reach a decision. During warmups, Ball was carrying a baseball bat, which the Giants claim triggered several altercations in the game, including a hit that got Beckham suspended for one game.
“I will not defend his actions yesterday because they were wrong and this franchise and organization does not tolerate that”, Coughlin said.
“I hope I pulled that mask off. I pulled back the face of what that dude really is”, said Norman.
Though both Norman and Finnegan earned penalties as well, Beckham’s actions were deemed excessive by viewers, as well as NFL VP of Football Operations Merton Hanks, who ruled that his “actions put his opponents at unnecessary risk of injury”.
Rivera also described the whole situation as “a huge misunderstanding”. “I’ve seen some of the clips, but honestly, those clips are benign….”
Now they went on to get a person on the practice squad dressed in an all-black sweatsuit, he took the bat, walked over to Odell like he was gonna hit him in his knees, saying ‘We’re gonna end your career today’. “If not, let’s move on”. He called the entire story that leaked Monday “someone’s attempt at spin control”. The coach said, “because I’m going to hear it if I don’t”. It was just insane, man, ” Norman said.
The suspension was an embarrassment for Beckham, who in two seasons has become one of pro football’s most popular and celebrated players and the focal point of the Giants’ offense.
“Marcus has given me no reason not to believe what he told me”, Rivera said.

“I hate the behavior of these players now, and I have been on Beckham many times this year about the stuff that’s going on”. “I want to avoid (the headache)”.
