Ronaldo on target as Real thrash Osasuna 5-2

Atletico did start to slowly get more comfortable on the ball as they settled in, and Antoine Griezmann forced Sergio Alvarez into a good save in the 18 minute.

Atletico Madrid football club’s Argentine coach Diego Simeone said he is satisfied with the first victory in La Liga over Celta Vigo, noting that the 4-0 win was made “in a very hard field” and against a strong rival.

“I am happy with the win and because our structure was like we have come to expect from Atletico”.

“I am still getting back into my rhythm (after the Euros) and still have a way to go, but I am giving my all and I’m very happy to get the goals and the assist”.

“But that doesn’t change anything – I shouldn’t have said what I said”.

Celta are still to pick up a point this season after finishing sixth last term, but just as in losing out narrowly to Real Madrid two weeks ago, they again paid for not taking their chances in a promising first-half.

The hosts continued to cause Atletico all kinds of problems on the counter and next threatened when Bongonda beat the offside trap in the 34th minute after a fine pass from midfield, outpacing Diego Godin and Stefan Savic before aiming just wide from the edge of the area.

In the second half, after Koke’s goal, the team was strong, dominant and and you could sense that whenever we broke we were going to do damage.

Atleti were looking a class above their opponents in the second stanza, and less than ten minutes later, Griezmann was back with another headed effort, extending their lead to 3-0 with ten minutes to play.
