Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has hit out at Barcelona legend Xavi after the midfielder claimed that Lionel Messi is the best player in the world.

“Messi will be number one until he wants [to stop]”.
Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo took to Instagram to post a goofy photo of him and his son on Sunday.
That did not sit well with Ronaldo, who didn’t respond to the comments until after the win over Osasuna, a match in which he opened the scoring.
Xavi recently claimed that the Portugal worldwide was “unlucky” to be around at the same time as Lionel Messi, who has achieved more to justify his title as FIFA Ballon d’Or holder in the past. “Anyone who wants free publicity or media attention talks about me”, he said to Marca, although he was magnanimous when he mentioned Messi’s name.
“Xavi plays in Qatar, it doesn’t have any relevance”. He plays in Qatar.
“I’m the Internet’s most-searched player”, the forward said after the game. “Xavi has won everything, the World Cup, European Championships.and he has never won the Ballon d’Or”.
Messi has five (one being the pre-FIFA version of the Ballon D’Or) while Ronaldo has three plus another pre-FIFA award.

This all started when Xavi gave a comment that ” no doubt Ronaldo was the greatest footballer but he must consider himself unlucky to be with the Messi at the same time. Barcelona and Real will meet in Week 14 of the 2016-17 season, with the Catalans hosting Los Blancos at the Camp Nou early December.
