UFC champion Ronda Rousey has chosen her presidential bet and it is not female candidate Hillary Clinton but her arch-rival Bernie Sanders.
Accepting funds from his growing number of supporters, Sanders is mounting a grassroots campaign to build support for his unconventional plans.
“If he doesn’t win against Hillary, then I’ll probably vote for a third party again”, she said.
According to Rousey, her 2012 vote actually went to comedian Roseanne Barr.
The former sitcom star ran on the Peace and Freedom Party ticket and got around 50,000 votes nationwide after appearing on the ballot in three states including California, Rousey’s home state.
She said that she had voted for Roseanne since she was unimpressed with the rest of the presidential campaigns and simply chose the first third party she saw. “I hope it works out”, she added.
An endorsement for a candidate who advocates socialism and socialist ideas may seem counter-intuitive for someone making the kind of money that Ronda Rousey makes.
Considering one of the most popular criticisms of Sanders’ economic ideas is the fact that the rich would see a significant increase in taxes, Rousey’s decision doesn’t appear to be one made in self-interest.
Aside from his purported denial of donations from corporate PACs (political action committees that lobby on the behalf of a corporation), Sanders is a self-described democratic socialist who champions such ideas as income equality, universal healthcare, campaign finance reform, raising the minimum wage, providing free college education, and supports increased taxes, particularly on the wealthiest of Americans.

Bleacher Report mentioned that Rousey is set to defend her undefeated record versus Holm at UFC 193 on November 15 in Melbourne, Australia. Her most recent win was a 34-second victory against Brazilian fighter Bethe Correia in Rio de Janeiro last August.
