Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm Odds: Champ Opens as 10-to-1 Favorite

Rousey described Holm has the best striker that she has ever fought.

The bout, which takes place January 2 and airs on pay-per-view from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, came as a surprise to many fans.

Miesha Tate may have a lot of questions about why it’s Holly Holm who’s getting the next crack at Ronda Rousey instead of her, but Holm isn’t anxious about it.

Tate crossed paths with Rousey twice, dropping the Strikeforce women’s bantamweight belt via first-round submission in March 2012 before tapping out once more in the third round of their December 2013 rematch.

Since then Jedrzejczyk has emerged as an unexpected rising star in the UFC, defeating the division’s inaugural champion Carla Esparza by TKO and then despatching Jessica Penne in a similarly ruthless fashion.

Holm has won two fights by decision since joining the UFC earlier this year, but neither was particularly impressive.

“Everyone has jitters in their first fight. I just want to make the most of it; I’m so excited”. Hadn’t UFC president Dana White already said numerous times that Miesha Tate was next for Rousey?

Tate does not have an opponent for her next outing at the moment, but she conveyed her interest in locking horns with Invicta FC featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino at a 140-pound catchweight. When she’s not dispatching contenders in mere seconds in the Octagon, Rousey is introducing a new T-shirt warning women “Don’t be a D.N.B.” – or “Do Nothing Bitch”, publishing books, posing for sexy shoots, campaigning to be a Marvel character or appearing in WWE promos. The case was no different this week regarding the controversy surrounding Ronda Rousey’s next fight. It’s that bad folks. Now, to jump over Miesha for the title shot? She added that striking was something she learnt later on in her career.
