Ronny Deila: ‘Carlton Cole positive about Celtic’

The Hoops should have been out of sight by the interval following a one-sided first-half which saw midfielder James Forrest hit the woodwork amid a series of chances created and missed.

Our performance today was good.

The Tynecastle head coach said: “It’s a hard place to go at the best of times and we’re still early in the process of forming a defence”.

“I don’t think they had a chance in the whole game, apart from maybe at the end when we got the red card, and that wasn’t really a goal chance”.

With that next fixture coming this Thursday at Celtic Park, Ronny Deila is acutely aware of the possible backlash.

With Aberdeen slipping up at Inverness Connecticut, Celtic closed the gap on the Premiership leaders to four points but Deila was left frustrated by the stalemate. “It is about scoring goals and we didn’t do that today”.

Ahead of Celtic’s Ladbrokes Premiership clash with Hearts on Saturday, Deila said: “Charlie, I think, will be ready to play after the national team (games)”.

“You need someone who has different skills than the players we have and Carlton has that, so we will see what happens there”.

“They have started well in the league, they are up at the top, but everybody can lose a game – it’s how they react to it. We just have to make ourselves prepared and play at our best, then we’ll have a good chance to beat them”.

“At the moment he is in London”. You can see that [Didier] Drogba was there but he came back to Chelsea again. “Although I don’t know if I dare to be there”.

“It’s nice to see players like Rogic and Forrest starting to get to their potential – it excites me and gives me energy every time they go on the pitch and I see they’re getting better”.

“But he has been consistent in the Premier League for a long time and he has a lot of the qualities that we are looking for in matches like today”.

Celtic will win this and the fact that Hearts have been scoreless in losing their last five against the Bhoys indicates that backing a home win to nil at 6/5 is good value; so, too, is backing over 3.5 goals 6/5.

In the 32nd minute the busy former Rangers keeper thwarted Griffiths again before saving Bitton’s long-range effort as the Hoops fans wondered if it was going to be one of those days.

“He’ll be involved against Celtic and I’m confident he’ll prove a good addition to our team”. You are at 0-0 in the 92nd minute, you make a bad touch, the boy goes through, you take man and ball if you can, if you can’t do that you take the man and he did it and saved his team a point.

“We should have created more from our crosses because I think we had 30 crosses in the second half”.
