Rooney blasts ‘silly goals’ after United draw to Newcastle
The Red Devils squandered a two-goal lead and a possible victor from Wayne Rooney, to draw 3-3 with the Magpies at St James Park.

Rooney was less than pleased with his side’s defensive performance on the night and has demanded the backline improve out of sight in order to keep things tighter at the back.
“You don’t realise what a monumental effort that is, to come back from 2-0 and 3-2, and to perform as we did”.
“We have given it away”. I have said in all my press conferences that you have to score one more than your opponent, we didn’t do that today.
Paul Scholes feels “loads better” after watching Louis van Gaal’s side perform like a Manchester United team of old against Newcastle. We are always attacking also away.
It proved an eventful evening on Tyneside for Smalling, who unwittingly deflected Dummett’s strike past helpless keeper David de Gea after conceding the penalty from which Mitrovic made it 2-2 following a wrestling match with the Serbia global.
Mitrovic said “it’s my second time to play against him and I got his shirt afterwards” which just shows how Rooney is perceived in other countries as one of the best strikers in the world.
Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has hit out at referee Mike Dean for his decision to award Newcastle United a penalty in Tuesday’s 3-3 Premier League draw.
Manchester United have won their last three league games against Liverpool and after slipping to sixth in the table, they will be hoping to keep that run going on Sunday. “But we have to blame ourselves because we could have finished this match much earlier with big chances from Lingard and Fellaini and we didn’t do that”. “But I have to live with it, I have to cope with it. My players have to cope with it. It is very hard for them, but we have given two points away”.
Smalling said: “We were both jostling for positions throughout the game”.

“They looked a real threat, there was an intent to score goals”, Scholes told BT Sport.
