Rooney: Rashford’s time will come

“I have no personal problems with Jose Mourinho”.

Keane had been widely expected to leave the club this summer, as new Man United manager José Mourinho had made it abundantly clear that he was not in the boss’s plans – and while another of Championship clubs were chasing him, the chance to remain in the Premier League was an unexpected bonus for the player.

The Ecuadorian worldwide, now converted into a full-back, has also made an impressive start under Jose Mourinho this term.

“I believe that things are good with me, despite the current situation”, he said.

“We’ve got to wait and see how things go in September and October, but there is respect between us and that’s important for me”, told Schweinsteiger.

“In the previous year, things went well (at Man Utd) until I was banned (from the first-team)”.

Joachim Low is yet to name Schweinsteiger’s successor as Germany’s captain, with the midfielder hailing the Germany coach, under who he won the World Cup in 2014 and reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016. As I already said before, I feel privileged to be called up and to be a part of the national team.

The Swede has scored four goals in his first four matches for United but Mourinho has made a decision to give the talismanic forward more time off than the rest of his players – who have only two days to relax – because ‘at 34 years old, you need your rest’.

“I believe in my ability”.

“I think up to my suspension previous year, things were going well for me, then I had two unfortunate injuries”.

Wayne Rooney sees Marcus Rashford as “one of the brightest talents in European football” and has no doubt the teenager will “get his chance” both for Manchester United and the England senior team.

Schweinsteiger acknowledged that a move to America was “an option” but ruled out moving there in the near future. “I had wonderful years here and feel a gratitude to be able to make 120 appearances for Germany”.

“I think the Champions League final (defeat to Chelsea in 2012) in Munich was harder to get over”.
