Rooney willingly gave penalty duties to Ibra, says Mourinho

The win marked an ideal night for new boss Jose Mourinho, who in the past has criticised the quiet atmosphere at Old Trafford.

Ibrahimovic headed a Wayne Rooney cross into the bottom corner in the 36th minute, before scoring a penalty early in the second period to ensure that the Red Devils continued their ideal start to the 2016-17 campaign.

‘I’m focussing on trying to help my team win and after two games we have two wins, which is the most important thing.

“But I keep saying I’m very happy with the players I have and I keep saying I don’t speak about players from other clubs”.

Anthony Martial missed a chance to pick out Ibrahimovic for his hat-trick, but Jose Mourinho’s men closed out the match easily in his first league home game.

The France global, 23, earned the approval of the Old Trafford crowd with some elegant touches and came close to scoring on several occasions as he completed the full 90 minutes.

Having missed Uniteds 3-1 win at Bournemouth last weekend, Pogba was given a warm reception in his first game in the famous red of United at Old Trafford since a substitute appearance against West Bromwich Albion in March, 2012. I’m new in the team, I’m here not even a month, Paul was still at home.we need to get to know the players, the way we play and the simple things. I came here to win, that is what I always wanted. “Everything is new, it’s like a big puzzle we need to put the puzzle together and then we work through everything”.

Blackett said: “I know Tyler, not personally, but I know what he can do – what type of player he is, the way he can play”. Pogba started the game and played for the entire course of the contest. “I think the outcome will be good”.

“We can’t be the same United of the 80s, 90s and early 2000s as football has changed a lot”.

Ibrahimovic announced himself to the game in the 29th minute as he tried a trademark bicycle kick after Juan Mata sent a looping header into the box, but it flew high and wide.

Pogba also successfully intercepted the opposition’s passes 13 times and attempted four shots on goal – one more than double goal scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Paul Pogba made his long-awaited return to the Theatre Of Dreams but it was Zlatan Ibrahimovic who stole the show as the Swede scored twice.
