Manchester United’s medical team want the additional scans to be certain the injury is healing correctly while Rooney’s knee is immobilised in a bid to aid his recovery.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal confirmed that club captain Wayne Rooney would not return to action when the global break comes around at the end of March.
“He has a brace now and he has to wear it for two-and-a-half weeks, and then we have to look again”, the Dutch boss explained.
The Englishman will definitely miss his global friendlies under Roy Hodgson against Germany and the Netherlands on March 26 and 29 but is expected to be it in time for euro 2016.
“For us it’s hard but I hope we can recover in two days”.
