Rory Feek Has ‘No Desire’ to Perform in Life After Joey
Rory also talked about the couple’s upcoming album, which he said will be the last one they ever make and the last songs they will sing together. They’re up for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their remake of the Emmylou Harris / Don Williams hit “If I Needed You” at the February 15 Grammys.

“Rory wrote that in the time since Joey was diagnosed (October 2015), Julie has spent a significant amount of time with the family, traveling back and forth between in and her home in Washington, “… not waiting for someone we love to die.
He added, “I can tell you though… win or lose, together or separated by fate…” “It turns out that Julie had lost two of her best girlfriends to cancer and it had hurt and scarred her, and somehow our music was a part of her healing”, Rory shares. Joey will be be right beside me then, and every moment before and after that day. If not in person, then in my heart. In the latest post on Saturday, he wrote that her pain was increasing daily. “To her”, he writes. “Joey was still going through chemo and radiation as we recorded them, so it was hard on her. But she just kept smiling and pushed through it because this project is so important to her”. As I’ve mentioned, I’m fiercely protective of my wife, and Joey has many close friends who love her and would do anything for her, not to mention her three sisters. “Indy grinned ear-to-ear and so did we”. After the meeting Joey broke down in tears, Rory said.
“I think our baby is continuing to cheer her mama on in her fight, the best way she knows how…”
“Joey’s best friend Julie has been here for a week and was supposed to leave this evening and fly back home to OR where she and her husband Joe live”, Rory wrote.

In his latest update on Joey’s condition on his blog This Life I Live, Rory said that his wife’s condition continues to “decline” (and she and everyone were growing more and more heartbroken about it) but their daughter Indy never fails to make her mommy laugh out loud. He said that after Joey’s death, he has no desire to continue on with his singing career.
