Rory McIlroy is really not a fan of his ‘unfair’ gym critics
The former world No. 1 looked back to his best after storming to victory at the Deutsche Bank Championship Monday to claim his first PGA Tour title for 16 months.

“Obviously the Ryder Cup is there as well but, individually, FedEx Cup and Race to Dubai, were the two things that I really wanted to focus in on, and this has given me a real shot at trying to win that FedEx Cup for the first time”.
Casey had registered three consecutive rounds of 66 to lead going into the final day but struggled in the windy conditions and ended with a two-over-par round of 73. “Here we are, 69 holes later and 19-under par later and I end up with the trophy”.
“A few putts go your way, you get a little bit of confidence, start rolling them in and you start feeling good about yourself”, Day said after his final round of 67.
And with the bumper multimillion-dollar prize on offer to the victor of the FedEx Cup, McIlroy is relishing the opportunity to make a late charge for top spot – as well as leading Europe to glory in the upcoming Ryder Cup. “But things can turn around quickly in this game and they did for me this week”. With a two-stroke win over Paul Casey and shift up the world ranking, McIlroy hopes to silence his detractors.
“I think when people make judgements or criticisms without being educated on the subject that they’re criticizing, I think that’s like for me getting in the gym, for example, that’s my pet peeve”, McIlroy said. 15 years is because of the work I do in the gym. “It is nice to get that first win in the States this year”, he said. I found something. I still need to keep going with it. It’s been a great lesson for me this week not to get down on myself, to stay patient.
Uh oh, U.S. Ryder Cup enthusiasts.
The Northern Irishman’s victory elevated him from 38th to fourth in the FedExCup standings heading into the BMW Championship this week and the world number three is hungry for more success in what has been an underwhelming year.

“It is incredible to think how I started this tournament, and then all of a sudden I’m standing here with a trophy”.
