Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler Comment on Fan Throwing Ball with Attached Earplug
The 21-year-old former University of Southern California player won three times last year on the Symetra Tour and topped the circuit’s money list.

On Thursday, during their opening round of the Wells Fargo Championship, playing partners Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler had quite the unusual incident.
Fowler carded a par on the hole and his overall 71 put him in a 24-way tie for 30th place heading into Friday’s second round.
And no one’s shocked that Rickie Fowler’s making another run at the title.
“I think the winds picked up for us only like the last five, six holes, so we played the front nine without much wind”, Beck said. Notably impressive was his execution to birdie the 16th hole downwind and par the 17th and 18th to successfully see out an intricate stretch of the final three holes.
“I nearly went bogey-free around here, which would have been nice today”, Fowler said. “With the nine holes that I played on Tuesday and the pro-am yesterday, I felt, it actually feels pretty good. And then there’s the bonus of having won here and played well here before”.
It was a better second round for McIlroy as he got himself back in contention with a three-under-par 69 to move to a two-under-par total ahead of the weekend’s play.
Loupe recorded a career-best tie for third in the CareerBuilder Challenge in late January, and his three top-10s all came in his first six starts this season.
Loupe is coming off two missed cuts at the Valero Texas Open and Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
It was his first start since the Masters and only the second time he had completed 18 holes since finishing T10th at Augusta. “But I will keep knocking on the door and hopefully keep giving myself a chance”.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The scorecard often tells a different story than the way those numbers were achieved, and so it seems only fitting that Phil Mickelson stood as a prime example on Friday at the Wells Fargo Championship.
Park finished the round with birdies on five of the first seven holes but also double-bogeyed at No. 8. “I needed to aim it a little left of the green because of the trees”.
” … If I get off to a fast start tomorrow like I did today, then I’ll be right there back in the tournament”.
Bogeys at 10 and 14 kept Lowry on the defensive, and a birdie three on the 18th for 73 and three-over par overall was little consolation as he faced a long wait to discover if he would make the cut.

Roberto Castro was the biggest mover of the day with a 6-under 66 to move within one stroke of the lead. This isn’t the most flashy round, but the early morning scoring average is sitting at 73.277 so this will give him more than a stroke advantage over the field.
