Rosberg wins Singapore GP

Rosberg, who went on to win the race and take the championship lead, added: “It was not a nice experience to see someone running across [the track] when I’m arriving at 300 [km/h]”.

And with teammate Lewis Hamilton struggling to find the right setup around the Marina Bay circuit and only managing to finish third, Wolff was in no doubts about just how good Rosberg’s performance had been.

The Brit was leading the title race with six impressive wins in the season before his Mercedes teammate pushed him to the second spot with Sunday’s win. I’m going to celebrate after this.

Sunday’s F1 Singapore Grand Prix brought the late-race excitement, as Nico Rosberg held off a hard-charging Daniel Ricciardo to take the win. “We have the tendency of saying Lewis has awesome pace”.

The cars were released again at the start of lap three but, despite race control confirming three times with the clerk of the course that the track was clear of people and material, a marshal was still out there.

“This weekend has just been a bit of a tricky one for me, but I’m still glad I could get back up on the podium and get some points for the team”, said Hamilton, who finished third.

“Spa wasn’t a real good opportunity for [Hamilton] because of the engine penalty, and here it just started on the wrong foot and he couldn’t recover”. We have had this since three years, since the two of them have been fighting for the championship, you have seen those waves.

“We need to start coming out with some plan because this is all the pace I’ve got with the brakes”, demanded the championship leader on the radio.

“Nico has performed fantastically well this weekend, he’s done an unbelievable job, and I expect him to continue like that, so I’ve just got to make sure that I do the same”. “I expect him to continue like that so I’ve got to make sure that I do the same”.

Hamilton arrived in Singapore a year ago with a 53-point lead over Rosberg as he cruised to his third Formula One title and although the tables have somewhat turned this campaign, the Briton knows there are still six rounds remaining.

“I was pushing on that out lap to see if we could undercut him, and fortunately we did”. Ricciardo has consistently proven faster in qualifying and on track than the Dutch wunderkid and has firmly established his credentials as the man to lead Red Bull’s charge when next year’s regulations give the vehicle a competitive boost. “He couldn’t really double check the set-up, he wasn’t happy with the set-up, the auto wasn’t like it was”.
