It was Rose’s first appearance in the Pacific Northwest since tearing the medial meniscus in his right knee two years ago in Portland, November 22, 2013.

“I thought I got a lot of good looks at the rim”.

“We got stops when we need them the most, and that’s what you have to do when your offense isn’t clicking”, Chicago coach Fred Hoiberg said. “We won so that’s the only thing that matters”.

But the Blazers didn’t make it easy.

Chicago jumped to a 10-0 lead as Portland missed its first seven shots from the field.

McCollum scored on a drive to make it 89-88 with 13.0 seconds on the clock.

McCollum’s 3-point attempt in the closing seconds was off, and Gibson put down two free with 1.8 seconds left to clinch the victory for the Bulls. Derrick Rose added 17 points and Pau Gasol had 12 points and 14 rebounds and a crucial late driving basket after the Bulls went nine minutes with one field goal after leading 78-65.

The Bulls worked hard to get the ball from Lillard’s hands. They have had three days to rest to face a Portland team that has somehow beaten the Lakers and Clippers in back-to-back games after losing seven straight outings.

NOTES: It was the Bulls’ first win in Portland since 2007.

“Basketball, emotions, that’s part of the game, ” Butler said. He missed last year’s game because of a sore left hamstring. That being said, he logged 35 minutes and owners should be positive in his outlook moving forward. That one gave the Bulls a 29-19 lead and it was 29-22 after one quarter. But after getting the ball back with 2.1 seconds left in the first half, Butler made a running 55 footer for a 48-39 Bulls halftime lead.

Plumlee was hit with a flagrant foul, while Butler received a technical, which is an automatic $2,500. But the Bulls reverted to isolation play, missing 14 of 15 shots in one stretch.

Bulls: Chicago was coming off a 106-94 loss at Golden State on Friday.

Afterward, Lillard, who was instrumental in helping the Blazers pull out their previous two wins with brilliant fourth quarter performances, didn’t shy away from an off night. On the Bulls next possession, Chicago guard Jimmy Butler set a screen at the free throw that Blazers center Mason Plumlee tried to navigate by lowering his shoulder. Portland defeated FC Dallas 3-1 this past Sunday, and the two-legged playoff series goes to Dallas this weekend. “Hopefully, he will continue to progress and we can get him back out there soon.”…
