Rosemary Diaz’s remains believed to be discovered in Texas
New information led authorities to excavate on private land, where they found the remains, which are believed to be those of Rosemary Diaz, Wharton County sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Grosser said.

Texas Rangers have been called in to assist Wharton County and Matagorda County as they search for more remains and a necklace Daiz was wearing when she disappeared.
Diaz went missing in 1990 from a general store in Danevang, about 70 miles southwest of Houston, and the property where the remains were found is not far from that unincorporated rural community. Investigators were told back then that Diaz had been threatened by some teen boys she identified as bragging at school about allegedly stealing beer from the store. There is also a suspect in the case, but investigators say he is already deceased. He was in his 20s at the time of Diaz’s abduction from the store, the Houston Chronicle reports.
However, the suspect, who confessed to various family members about the crime in the last years of his life, in the case is dead. Grosser wouldn’t say specifically what that information was or where it came from. Elia Diaz, a sister of the missing victim, told KTRK that authorities have discovered a ring with the remains. Investigators say no one person ever had the full story, and it wasn’t until just a few months ago that people started talking – helping reopen the cold case.
The fifteen year old was working alone on the night that she vanished. They never let her memory die.

It’s not clear that the man was ever considered a suspect at the time of Diaz’s disappearance. “It’s all about bringing Rosemary home now”.
