Rousey’s fear of failure key to beating Holm in Melbourne
Ronda Rousey was asked at yesterday’s UFC 193 pre-fight interviews what she thought of Miesha Tate suggesting she might retire after being snubbed for a title shot, and her answer revealed as much about her own future as anything else. Floyd Mayweather – by those standards – would never have been world champion. “I’m trying to figure that out, and I think that if anybody is capable, I think that I am, and I think it’s just a matter of prioritising and timing and figuring out when I can do which, when”.

Let’s be clear, though: We shouldn’t expect Rousey – or any other athlete – to be on message all the time, especially when the origin of said message is unclear.
The UFC women’s champion got he “Street Fighter II” treatment with this clip of a digitized Ronda Rousey wreaking havoc on Ryu and the rest of the crew from the classic video game.
Holm, 34, didn’t look quite as good as advertised in her first two UFC bouts, both decision victories over Raquel Pennington and Marion Renau, respectively.
“UFC is more in the mainstream now but it’s not yet where we’d like to be”. The 34-year-old has scored back-to-back decision wins over Raquel Pennington and Marion Reneau to earn her crack at Rousey.
UFC President Dana White spoke with MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani on Thursday about the expected gate numbers for the fight.
Ronda Rousey defends her UFC women’s bantamweight title against Holly Holm.
Rousey, however, leaves the question of whether she believes she is a role model for others to decide.
Rousey said the ex-boyfriend, whom she referred to only as “Snappers McCreepy,”took nude pictures of her without her consent and blocked her from leaving his apartment after she confronted him about it. “I punched him in the face with a straight right, then a left hook”, Rousey wrote”. “Luckily for the sport, Rousey was there to fill the void”. However, that does not automatically make it a feminist achievement, nor its enactor a feminist hero.

“The most uncomfortable scenario is that I’m the best and I have the most pressure”, she said. I share a lot, and I give a lot. There are not that many women who do. “I’m heading to South Bend, Indiana”, he said. Martin was 46-3-2 at the time, had appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated and fought on a Mike Tyson undercard. “If that is her only means of presenting a brand of feminism, it certainly isn’t one I want to subscribe to”. I would love to retire from MMA as one of the greatest of all time. “She is by action, if not always by words, one of the true female icons of our generation”.
