It’s official… boxing legend Roy Jones Jr.is now a full Russian citizen – with a passport to prove it.

Jones remarked that it “feels nothing better than to be a citizen of both the US and Russia” and added, “this is definitely something that was ordained by God and not myself, “ even as he wanted to encourage other people to go to Russian Federation “because Russia is good and the people of Russian Federation are good.”.

Jones said he would move to Russian Federation with his family and compete in the name of his adoptive country, Interfax reported.

President Putin admitted Jones to Russian citizenship on September 12.

The four-division world champion received his passport in a ceremony on Tuesday at the offices of the Federal Migration Service in Moscow.

Jones was famously ripped off in the light-middleweight (71kg) final at the 1988 Olympics in South Korea, and did not fight outside of the USA as a professional until his 60th bout in 2009, when he was stopped inside a round by Perth’s Danny Green in Sydney.
