The photos were offered on WhatsApp to reporters at both the Daily Mail and The Sun by an anonymous seller.
To prove that the images were authentic, the hacker sent a few shots of Pippa at her wedding dress fitting to The Sun.
This sparked an investigation and it appears, according to the BBC, that Middleton’s iCloud account has been hacked.
The news emerges as Pippa’s sister Catherine begins a Royal tour of Canada with her husband Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and their two young children.
Pippa Middleton and her fiance, James Matthews. In his solicitation, the hacker was reported to have said to the news organisations, “Due to current climate on privacy laws in the United Kingdom, I’m intending a quick USA sale but would at least give you a heads-up”, further noting that it would go to the highest bidder.
The seller, who hid their identity by calling themselves the ” Crafty Cockney” and “Mas”, contacted the press and said they had 3000 private photographs from the author’s Apple iCloud account.
The Sun newspaper quoted a spokesman for Miss Middleton as saying: “Thank you very much for drawing this to the family’s attention”.
