27 Sept Kelowna, British Columbia and Whitehorse, Yukon: The royals will tour the Okanagan campus of the University of British Columbia and take part in the BC government’s “Taste of British Columbia” festival at Mission Hill Winery before flying to Whitehorse, where they will be greeted by members of the Canadian Rangers.
While many people would fall over themselves to shake hands with Trudeau, the future heir to the British throne played it cool when the royal family touched down in Victoria, British Columbia, on Saturday (Sunday NZ Time).
“When we were here last time we were married only three months”. Prince William recalls the “warm welcome” that the prime minister had given him and Kate during such an “important moment” in their lives.
Little Princess Charlotte, Prince George and their parents, Prince William and Kate, have arrived in Canada for their first official trip overseas as a family of four. Charlotte wore a blue dress with a matching bow while George was dressed up in a blue sweater, shorts and knee socks.
The outfit was in stark contrast to the plain blue Jenny Packham dress she wore for the family’s arrival in Victoria less than 24 hours earlier.
Three-year-old Prince George totally shut down Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s attempt at a friendly high-five when the two met on September 24 during the Royal Canadian Tour.
The 44-year-old Trudeau, who also received loud cheers, joked that getting the kids back on the plane could be a challenge after they see Canada’s attractive Pacific Coast.
They were headed to the provincial Parliament buildings in Victoria for a formal welcoming ceremony.
A few of Canada’s top officials greeted them in British Columbia.
“Prince William and Kate arrive in style as they arrive by boat plane in Vancouver”, blared the Evening Standard.
The prime minister on the other hand, took the rejection well and carried on greeting the rest of the royals.
The couple then spoke with local dignitaries, asking them about their roles in Victoria and praising the event. “We can’t wait to explore”.
“They spent a lot of time looking at the incredible views from both sides of the plane”, the aide added.

“And in the year of the queen’s 90th birthday, I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to thank the people of Canada for the warmth and generosity they’ve extended to my grandmother throughout her reign”.
