The only glimpse of them on Saturday was at the airport, where the royal couple were also greeted by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, B.C. Premier Christy Clark and her son Hamish.
Their first trip followed their 2011 wedding, taking them to Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Charlottetown, Summerside, Yellowknife, Calgary and Slave Lake after that community was ravaged by a forest fire.
The group, who were joined by other leading dignitaries, then travelled to Government House where William and Kate settled their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Early birds staked out key positions, bringing with them blankets, chairs, food and vacuum flasks to keep warm for the more than 10-hour wait to see the royal couple. Some expressed disappointment but say they understand.
Despite the long flight, Kate looked fresh-faced and glowing as she stepped off the plane at Victoria Airport in British Columbia with her daughter Princess Charlotte in her arms.

The trip garnered global headlines when the Duchess suffered a wardrobe malfunction in Calgary when the wind blew the back of her skirt up exposing what was was called “The Royal Hiney” on the front page of the Toronto Sun.
Royal fever has taken hold in Victoria, where the provincial parliament has been decorated to welcome the British couple. Charlotte, meanwhile, wore a light blue dress with a matching bow in her hair as she was carried by Kate.
“They’ve taken a lot of time to figure out if this is something that she really wanted to do, to live with a level of scrutiny all her life”, she said. He accompanied his father, Prince Charles, and his brother Harry in 1998, 11 months after the death of their mother Princess Diana.
The prince also recalled his visit to B.C.as a teenager in the late 1990s, when he was a heartthrob greeted by screaming girls.
He said they are both passionate about helping the environment, supporting young families and the mental health of young people.
Linda Gunther said it was fine George and Charlotte weren’t there.
They will stay at a luxurious Victorian mansion that is the home of the governor general, the queen´s representative in Canada.
William is the second in line to succeed his grandmother Queen Elizabeth, who is also Canada’s head of state.

The royals will then visit an immigrant welcome center where they will meet with a newly arrived refugee family from Syria. Canadians are somewhat indifferent to the monarchy, but most have great affection for the queen, whose silhouette marks their coins, as well as her grandsons and Kate. Canada’s current “Trudeaumania” is as much thanks to Sophie’s popularity as that of her husband.
